High Seas Nursery

Alright guys. This is it. This is the nursery that was chosen out of the three I proposed to our friends. You may recall (or not because it’s been forever since I posted) that our close friends were expecting their second kiddo and I designed the nursery. I was super excited so I gave them three different mood boards to choose from.  Well the baby has arrived and the project is DONE. I still need to photograph the room but I wanted to share the initial mood board with you today.

This room is great. It’s classic and sophisticated and something that he can definitely grow into. It’s a calm but stylish place that mom and dad are happy to spend time in too. I am super in love with the patterns in this room and it looks so great together in person. It’s easy to make a room look really busy with a lot of pattern, but if you consider color and scale you can totally pull it off.

Of course a couple pieces evolved for various reasons but I’ll go over that in the reveal post. Here we wanted something serene and classic and that’s exactly what we got. I wanted the room to have a nautical feeling without being too themey, so I found this amazing piece of art from Minted and that tied together the aqua and navy water tones into the room. I love the crib sheets and the changing pad cover. Both were very light and had pretty small scale patterns so it worked well with the large patterned rug. This rug is big and beautiful and it has a big impact on the room. It’s woven but still soft which is pretty important for tiny hands and feet to eventually crawl on.

So if you want to get the look check out the links below. If you design your own nursery based on this board be sure to post it on Instagram and tag it #stephpiontkowskiedesign so I can take a look!
